Five athletes represented Fox Chapel Area High School at the recent fourth annual WPIAL Summit on Sportsmanship banquet that was held at the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum: juniors Vanessa Blazer (soccer and basketball); Leah Eckman (track and volleyball); Margaux Everingham (soccer); and sophomores Zach Burkhart (baseball); and Levi McCrady (lacrosse and golf).
This year’s keynote speakers were Pirates’ manager Clint Hurdle, who was just voted as baseball’s National League Manager of the Year, and Charlie Batch, former Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback. Their inspiring messages addressed virtues such as the importance of respect, applying the characteristics of sportsmanship to everyday life and how to overcome adversity
