Cheerleaders Take First Place

Congratulations to the Fox Chapel Area High School cheerleaders, who took first place in the non-tumbling division of the “Battle of the ‘Burgh” cheer competition. The competition was held at the Petersen Event Center and hosted by Elite cheerleading, the organization that coaches the University of Pittsburgh cheerleading and dance teams and has led the groups to many national awards.

The Foxes’ team’s next event is a youth cheerleading clinic to be held on February 1st, 3rd, and 4th.  The cheerleaders will perform at the February 5 game. Interested individuals can find more information and sign up through the athletic department website, www.fcasdathletics.org/.

Cheerleaders representing Fox Chapel Area High School are seniors Hannah Pignoli, Sammie Stasiak, Heather Snowball, Cassie Shepard and Kara Gottschalk; juniors Krista Zottola, Natalie Vayonis, Briana Zwolak and Victoria Weng; sophomores Ashley Soko, Moriah Becker, Paige Wilson, Julia Kust, Julianna Macdonald, Taylor Trasatti, Emma Rice, Shanna Makaveney and Charlotte Lewis; and freshmen Demi Rymer, Olivia Pistella, Shannon Coleman, Alana Herceg, Sara Rabbitt and Kailey Kavalir.

The girls are led by first-year coach Aleta Balcer and Belinda Evans.
