Nicholas Tolomeo profiles the Fox Chapel boys soccer team.

“Having to replace 12 players, including nine starters, is a big challenge for any high school soccer program, even a perennial Class AAA contender such as Fox Chapel that prides itself on its depth year in, year out.

Coach Erik Ingram routinely uses 20-plus players in meaningful games.

“It has usually worked for us because of the number of guys we have with experience,” Ingram said. “One of the strengths of the program is we all work hard in the offseason, all get on the same page and as long as you have a good touch and make good decisions, you can play in our system.”

That mantra will be put to the test this season as Ingram not only has to break in new reserves but also nine new starters. Seven senior starters graduated and two others moved out of the area.”
