It has been seven years since Fox Chapel has qualified for the PIAA Class AAA boys team tennis tournament.
This time, however, things will be different.
Not only are the Foxes heading to Hershey Racquet Club as the reigning WPIAL Class AAA champions for the first time in school history, they are also making their first appearance in Hershey. Since the state championships were established in 2001, Fox Chapel finished second in the WPIAL twice, in 2003 when the team lost to Shady Side Academy and only one WPIAL qualifier moved on, and in 2009 when they lost to North Allegheny in the finals and dropped a 5-0 decision to Cathedral Prep in the Tuesday qualifier.
