For Fox Chapel athletic director Mike O’Brien, the hardest part was not finding a football coach but keeping the selection a secret.
Even if it was the worst-kept secret in the WPIAL.
When Tom Loughran resigned at South Park, it didn’t take long to connect the dots linking him to Fox Chapel’s opening.
After all, Loughran made no secret of his desire to continue coaching. And he owns a home in Oakmont, just across the Allegheny River from Fox Chapel.
“I was pleasantly surprised,” O’Brien said, “to see somebody of his caliber in the mix.”
