Fox Chapel senior running back and linebacker Carrington Vaughn has committed to Arizona as a preferred

walk-on.

He had a scholarship offer from Albany and considered Penn. Vaughn said a coach from Arizona, which had

shown interest in him last season, called him Monday to offer him the walk-on deal.

He was recruited as a linebacker, a position that earned him All-Quad North first-team recognition last season.

“I went to their spring game last year and really enjoyed myself; I love it out there,” Vaughn said of Arizona. “I

hope to go out there and make an impact.”

Vaughn rushed for 726 yards and eight touchdowns last season and Fox Chapel (4-6) made the WPIAL Class

AAAA playoffs.

Vaughn has plenty of athleticism in his family. His uncle is former Foxes’ basketball star Gene Thorpe and his

cousin is current Penn State basketball player Geno Thorpe.
