Congratulations to senior Patrick Sheerer, whose outstanding performance in golf earned him an athletic scholarship to St. Bonaventure, a Division I college.
Patrick capped off his final year of high school golf with a 10th place finish at the PIAA Class AAA state championship. He is the first boys’ golfer to qualify for the state tournament since 2006. He also won the PIAA Western Regional championship final with an impressive score of 1 under par 71. In addition, he took 5th place at the WPIAL individual finals firing a 71, and was the Section 4 championship medalist with an impressive 70.
A three-year letterman, Patrick was instrumental in helping the varsity golf team finish with a perfect 16-0 record this year. It is only the third time in school history they have gone undefeated in the regular season. His leadership also was very valuable in helping the squad take second place in the WPIAL Class AAA Team championship.
