Fox Chapel senior Laurel Shymansky made her final appearance on a tennis court for the Foxes a memorable one Saturday as she teamed with sophomore Amanda Nord to claim the PIAA Class AAA doubles championship.
Last year, Shymansky and Nord lost to North Allegheny’s Tina Li and Eugenia Lee in the state final. They extracted a little revenge Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club by sweeping past Li and Ashley Huang, 6-4, 6-2.
It was Shymansky’s second state doubles championship as she paired up with Lacey Cohen in 2013 to win.
This one was special to Shymansky, a Duquesne recruit.
